While success in weight loss can vary depending on who you talk to, one thing we can all agree on is the fact that healthy weight loss should be priority one. Before you get started losing weight, you should set clear weight loss goals. These goals should be realistic and you should document both achievement and failure.
Why do such a thing? Accountability. Plus, setting clear goals will help you stay motivated and hopefully on track to your goals.
Today, we’re looking at the 9 key tips to lose weight healthy. Let’s get to the countdown.
(1) Make Fitness A Part Of Your Ritual
Perhaps this is your first time trying to lose weight or you may back for the 5th time trying to drop a few pounds, none the less, you have to make fitness a part of your regular ritual. One common theme we hear over and over again is “I’m too busy to lose weight.” If you follow our 9 key tips to lose weight healthy, you’ll find that less time is needed to accomplish your goals. However, you have to make a commitment to lose weight.
You can create a schedule based around your working schedule. If you can’t find time, make time. For example, if you get an hour for lunch, go for a 30 minute walk. It doesn’t have to be complex, but you do have to do it. As this becomes a part of your normal process, you’ll gain more energy naturally.
(2) Create Your Exercise Schedule
Again, I want to point back to accountability. It’s a crucial piece of the puzzle. By creating an exercise schedule to follow, it will allow exercise to become routine in your life. An example exercise schedule could look like this;
- Monday – “2 Mile Walk” – “30 Minutes Yoga”
- Wednesday – “30 Minutes Treadmill” – “100 Squats @ 100 pounds” – “2 Sets of Pushups @ 40 Reps Each”
- Friday – “100 Curls @ 50 pounds” – “1 Mile Run” – “45 Minute Walk”
- Saturday – “Gym Program”
We all need routine in our life. This will help you fit exercise in your schedule and should help you be accountable to get the task done.
(3) Track What You Eat
While exercise does help with weight loss, eating plays a vital role as well. I want you to track what you eat. For one, accountability. For two, I want you to be aware of what you eat. Your diet should consist of vegetables and fruits, no processed foods. When I first started losing weight and started tracking what I ate, I was surprised at the amount of calories I was consuming on a daily basis. You’ll need to track what you eat so you can complete the next tip.
(4) Counting Calories
Nobody likes to count calories, I get it. It’s boring, it can be hard at first and it takes up time. Even so, if you’re serious about weight loss, you should consider counting calories. You need to be accountable for everything you do. But more importantly, you need to be aware of what you’re eating. I don’t count calories anymore, but it did help me become aware of everything I was eating.
(5) Portion Control
Portion control plays a big impact on weight gain. The main reason I suggest counting calories or at least being aware of calorie intake is for portion control. You have to watch what you eat. By decreasing your portions, you can lose weight. So always be aware of that. Consider adding low calorie foods to your diet.
(6) Keep Track Of Your Progress
Another reason we track everything besides accountability is to track our progress. Not only do we see the live results, we see front and center the pounds dropping off. This alone is enough motivation to continue losing weight and making the needed efforts already listed.
(7) Meal Planning
As you can see, writing everything down is very beneficial. Another important step you’ll take in weight loss is meal planning. Being at least aware of your calorie intake, you should be able to plan meals for the week. Take Sunday or Monday to plan your entire week out. If you wish, you can start planning Sunday and shop that evening, what ever schedule best fits you. Then you can pick up everything for your meals.
(8) Educate Yourself Along The Way
Knowledge is power in anything that you do. During your journey, it doesn’t hurt to learn. There’s a ton of great fitness blogs out there, health blogs. (9) Eat Your Fruits And Vegetables
You want to make your lose weight healthy, there’s a right way to lose weight and a wrong way. Fruits are a great choice for breakfast. Fruits are low in calories and very healthy for you. Eat plenty of green vegetables, collard greens, broccoli, lettuce, cabbage. Even if you’re not a big fan of fruits or vegetables, you want to try and incorporate it into your diet somehow. You may take a fruit smoothie over regular fruit, that’s one way.
